May 25, 2021 11:30 PM | Lori Lancaster (Administrator)

The application deadline is Monday, June 7th*. Selected applicants will be notified by June 11th with additional information about meeting dates and next steps.

The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) is seeking K-12 educators, administrators, pre-service educators, and career science and engineer practitioners to participate on a Science Standards Advisory Panel in support of reviewing and revising the Oregon Science Standards.

The Oregon State Board of Education has the responsibility to “continually review and revise all adopted academic content standards necessary for students to successfully transition to the next phase of their education” (ORS 329.045(2)). For science, the next set of K-12 science standards is scheduled to be presented to the State Board of Education during the 2021-2022 school year (Spring 2022).

The Science Standards Advisory Panel will begin meeting in June 2021 and continue through the 2021-2022 school year with much of the work happening during the summer, after school hours and offline.

Please note – Classroom educators will need approval from the school administrator to apply and all applicants will need to be able to participate remotely on:

  • Tuesday, June 22 and Wednesday, June 23
  • Tuesday, August 17 and Wednesday, August 18
  • Two scheduled dates (TBD) prior to May 2022 (after 3:30 pm)

If you are not available to apply to the science standards advisory panel but would like to provide input, please use the K-12 Oregon Science Standards Review form.
