Data is all around us. We use it to make decisions, to draw conclusions, and to tell our stories. We hear about it in the news, we read about it online, we are quick to cite it in our conversations. Making sense of data is a key 21st century literacy, and students need to engage with the tools and practices of both math and science from an early age. Yet data science is not typically a feature of our math or science courses at any point K-12. This session is intended for K-12 educators and partners, and will make sense of the current landscape around data science, present some opportunities for districts and schools to take action, and fill your professional toolbox with some data tools that can be used immediately (even in distance learning!).
