Presentation by Joe Minato, Long-time award winning educator with a passion for astronomy.
The Sun, Earth, and Moon are coming into alignment 2 times in the next 6-months (Saturday October 14 and Monday, April 8, 2024) and this is a wonderful opportunity to teach about our solar system and the Earth-Moon-Sun system.
The session begins with the basics of eclipses in general, and will get into the details of solar eclipses, and the annular eclipse that will occur on 10/14*, and the total eclipse that will occur on April, 8, 2024. A slide deck modified for elementary, middle, and high school levels will be available for download.
Next, an overview of activities that you can do with students in preparation for the eclipse as well as guidance on how students can best view the eclipse will be provided and available for download..
Finally, bring your questions, as we will finish with a question and answer session.
